You mentioned frog fishing, and that is one place where I will - reluctantly - use braid. You can just walk a frog so much better on braid. I'd just go with at least 50lb braid for frogs. 65 is probably your best bet even though its a little harder to get action from the frog with.

But for swimbaits, always mono. I don't even mess with fluorocarbon except as leader material. I just want good old fashioned stretch mono so that when big bessie hits 4 feet from the side of the boat I stand a chance to get her to the net :)
