Yes - 30lb braid is horrible. Braid in general is terrible because it is inconsistent. One minute you can't break it at all, the next minute it snaps for no apparent reason.

Just the other day SWMB8R told me that in the last few months, fishing with other people, he's watched $500+ worth of swimbaits get broken off on braid either casting or on fish. I haven't lost $500 worth of swimbaits ... in my life.

Mono. Triple fish camo-escent if you want specifics. You'll get more bites because its not opaque like braid, and you'll land more of the fish because it won't break for no reason :)
