6'10" to 7' hi-modulus graphite rod w/ extra fast tip, medium (or mh if fishing deep/heavier blades). i prefer a longer rod for quicker line takeup. i prefer graphite for sensitivity, like when probing structure or just feeling the blade vibration.

for most non-treble hook applications i.e. t-rigged plastics & spinnerbaits i prefer an extra-fast tip for a quicker, positive hooksets ... my .02
