Excellent insight on Fongsters behalf. I agree completely, I've devoted most of my free time in life to fishing. However, there have been times when responsibilities and other interests kept me busy. After taking a break from fishing I too have found that it can be very difficult to get dialed back in. A little help can go a long way and I am thankful for those who have provided me with information in the past.
While many anglers may boast their talents the reality is that the bulk of fishing knowledge is held by a small percent of anglers. Of this percentage there are few who are willing to share their knowledge. A wise fisherman (Tsunami AKA Brian) once told me if experienced anglers don't take the initiative to introduce fishing to others or help out those who have expressed a raised interest in fishing then our sport will never grow. Moving forward we will need all the support we can get and with out growth our sport will truely have no future.

I fish about five times a week and I live in San Gabriel. I fish bass on weekdays (Late afternoons/ evenings) and saltwater on weekends. Your more than welcome to join me. I've been meeting up with Tsunami lately at Legg Lake you should come down and meet up with us. All that I ask is that you practice catch and release. Let me know if you want to hook up for some bass fishing after work some time. Beer and lunch are both optional but not necessary you will need to bring your fishing license, in addition to a rod and reel. I would recommend bringing a camera too. Sooner or later you will find yourself gripping the lips of a trophy bass and I bet you'll want to snap a picture or two before you release her. If you havn't already then stick your tackle in a back pack. Be prepared to do some walking and with any luck you'll be doing some catching too. If you stick with it I can promis it will happen and there's a very good chance you will start catching bass on your first afternoon out.

Hi guys, Jerry, I met you guy at Santa Fe Dam a few weeks ago when I was walking for exercise. Did not know that was Tsunami with you at the time. Sure would like to meet up with you guys too at SFD or Legg, never fished there before. This is my first season pursuing the LMB. So much to learn, but then I am an eternal student. David, I am hoping to make it with my son, last day of his vacation, and grandson, playing hookie, to Irvine tomorrow. Are you going to be there? Maybe I can get some quick pointers from you, since you have been slaying the bass at the 'vine?

I understand,David, thanks anyway. Someone e-mailed with some great tips. I just got back from Puddingstone. Fished from 7:30-8:35 pm, best outing yet, cause I hit the right spot. Caught five bass in half an hour and two more the next, 1-3#ers. See you around.

greeper, this is my first season bass fishing and I am just learning. I fished east shore across from the swim beach at Pud Sun eve for the first time. Anybody could have caught those. They were just on the chew and I was there at the right time. I got them drop shodding Yamamoto worms on 8# test at sunset. I fish SFD and Pud for just an hour or so that I can squeeze in, because I live close by. I may go Tue eve and hit up the east shore. Let me know if you want to meet up?

I do remember talking with you at Santa Fe. As I recall you had mentioned that you fished Santa Ana River Lakes a lot in the past and you liked to fish Santa Fe for carp. I'm happy to hear that you have expanded your angling horizons to include bass. Congradulations on your recent success. I think most who fish the lake will agree that seven bass in an hour and five minutes is excellent by Pudd standards.
If you want meet up for some bass fishing just send me an email to let me know when and where. Afternoon bite is better for me however mornings are not completely out of the question. On weekends I ussually fish salt waters then it's back to week day evenings for freshwater bass. The bite was just starting to take off when I talked to you. It's prime time now so the fishing with any luck should be good. Shoot me an email when you have some time. The guy I was fishing with that day was actually my buddy Allen. Him and his girlfriend fish SGV lakes almost daily, I'm sure you will seen him again.

Be sure to watch the presentation that people who are catching fish are using. You can throw the same exact bait as the people who are catching fish are, but some times it's all in the presentation. It may be a little twitch of the rod or the way they raise the tip of the rod. Little subtleties like this make all the difference in the world at times. Once you get a feel for it, you could be out fishing the guys that taught you how to to catch em'. Also, when you catch one, remember where and how you were fishing that bait. Watching a lot of fishing shows has helped me a lot too. Some of them can really help. If you know anyone with the Outdoor Channel, go watch it on Monday nights. They have Monday night fishing and there are a couple of shows that are real informative. I am definitely no expert but every little bit helps I suppose.
Oh Yeah!!! Send all beer to; Me c/o Me A Lake Near You, CA

Well, if you're anything like me you'll be deep within the throws of bass fishing addiction before long. Once you start learning techniques and tricks, and they work, it becomes a lot of fun. You have a sense of accomplishment when you use your knowledge to catch those darn fish. It's not like just throwing your bait out and hoping a fish swims by and feels hungry. You really need to use your head most of the time. I live in Bakersfield and my close by options are extremely limited. I have a couple of small lakes close by. Fishing at those lakes is usually fair at best sometimes. Though I have caught my biggest fish from those lakes. You're absolutely right about these guys that reply to the posts. I wish I had some people up here I could get together with and fish. I do get offers from time to time on different sites to come down and fish. But when it comes down to it, I just don't feel like coming down there. Really pay attention to those fishing shows. Classic Patterns on Outdoor Channel is a good one. Also, Bassmasters(on TNN on the weekends I believe) is very educational. Before I really got into bass fishing specifically, I used to just watch them catch the fish. Now it's like Bass Fishing 101. It's where I learn most of what I know. I still have a long way to go. Also, if you can, get a float tube or something like it. That is if you don't have a boat. You'll have a better chance of gettinf at them. I'll stop now. I just love fishing so much. Once I get started I can't stop.
