message board with more reports than it has been lately. I know some want to be tight-lipped on their personal spots, but at least report something. Not asking for exact details. I will report on my next post.
Hey Bank Lber.,
How has the duct been?? I have not been there in a very long while.
Hey guys,
How about Castaic?
Piru?
Silverwood? - I hear it is all open now.
Lake Isabella?
I JUST HOPE TO SPARK A FIRE OF POSTING. PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES, GOOD TIMES & BAD IN REGARDS TO FISHING CALIFORNIA!! I REMEMBER WHEN EACH DAY HAD LOTS OF POSTS. NOW, JUST A FEW PER DAY. MAYBE I AM OVER-EXAGGERATING BUT I HOPE YOU GET MY DRIFT. THANK YOU "ALL" FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS SITE A GREAT SITE TO VISIT!! I, PERSONALLY HAVE BEEN SUPER-BUSY WITH WORK. SO, NOT MUCH FISHING TIME, BUT I ALWAYS CHECK THIS SITE ON A DAILY BASIS. THANKS AGAIN TO YOU ALL WHO CONTRIBUTE!!
:-)

I understand your topic but....Heres where i have a problem posting about "my" spots. Everytime i go fishing at a local place...i see trash. I am not blaming anyone in here, but i know a lot of people use these sites to get info on where fish are easiest to catch. Many of "those" people dont understand what trash does to our ponds, lakes, and ocean. People that leave trash on the ground and in the water ruin whats left in this state. Name a lake or pond in Socal that has no trash littered throughout its banks. Actually i take that back; dont name that lake or pond, for i fear its pristine wellbeing. The point is...trash ruins nature. SO report with caution. These fishing places will never be clean, but we can help by using those little metal bins they call TRASH CANS. Oh and for those of you that think a cigarette butt is exempt from the title: "trash"...you are wrong.

Sorry to digress, but i think i am speaking for a lot of us on this site.

1st things 1st: I HATE TO SEE TRASH ALL OVER LOCAL FISHING SPOTS!

Now, do you really think that public lakes such as Castaic, Piru, Casitas, Cachuma, Silverwood, Big Bear, etc. are gonna have less trash because you stop posting your fishing experiences?? LOL! Yeah right! Also, people know of the duct as a place to fish. Trying to say nothing is your prerogative! I am really glad someone told me about the duct! I had lots of good times there. Too bad the good guys get to miss out on your news. I love to hear what's going on! It helps me make a choice on where I may go for a short vacation. I work a lot and love to take time off to soak the line. But, stop posting and you may keep a couple of bad ones away but more so the good ones.

Some people are just too SELFISH! PERIOD!!

I have to agree with VenBrone. I have made posts in the past and my spots have been THUMPED HARD and there are no fish to be caught at those locations for quite a long spell. The "Catch-and-Kill" gang have been there with their Crawfish, and the place is trashed. Sorry, but there it is.

i agree with everyone who has replied. it is true that if we don't take care of what we have today what will we have tomorrow. we need to police up after ourselves i'm speaking to the guilty ones. i teach my kids to pick it up. if you dropped it pick it up. if there is no trash can hold on to it, put it in your pocket till we find one. here's alittle food for thought "IF IT DON'T GROW THERE IT DON'T BELONG THERE"
lets all pitch in to keep our lakes clean.
thanks

How did we go from where's all the posts... to let's not trash the environment?!? I really don't see how the trash on EARTH has ANYTHING to do with sharing fishing experiences....?!?!? There's trash on the grounds at Disneyland, are you not going to share your experiences there? Sorry, just had to put my two cents in. Just didn't get how trashy lakes keeps people from talking about fishing those spots... Is it just an assumption that WE will trash it...? I dunno... just confused as to what that has to do with anything... (Don't mean to sound rude.... just confused...)

It kinda stems from this post from awhile back.

http://www.calfishing.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=3&topic_id=13441&mesg_id=13441&page=2

More people equals more trash and more pressure, posting about specific spots seems to increase people's interest sometimes. I enjoy reading just about any report, good or bad, specific or vague but you can't insist people share more, either they do or they don't.

The boards seem to slow down as the trout plants do :P It's the off season,it'll pick back up.

Whoa Fellas,
I had no intention of wreaking mass havoc here. I received a few e-mails asking to stop being so explicit about certain hotspots at the duct. I agreed after one of my fav's was trashed by Barn dogs. I haven't posted for awhile Fisher because I have been out of state and country on business. I have helped numerous guys with questions via e-mail, look at John's post about the duct. As soon as I get settled and back out I will continue to post about the bite at the duct, just not any whereabouts.

Tight Lines,
Bank Pounder

In response to SHARKGIRL:
Yes, as PHISNUTS responded. It does sort of stem from that post. I do feel that post has kept some people from reporting.

This is NOT an off season right now. Just a transitional time. Different approaches, different species, different locations, etc.
As for trout - the Sierras offer great angling experiences during this time of year. Fish plants or no fish plants - fishing can still be good during summer. I like to do catfishing during summer & saltwater fishing too. Have a great summer fishing. >>>P.S. >>> DON'T FORGET SUNBLOCK & PLENTY OF WATER! :D

Yeah, I guess that would be a legitimate reason to not post, if that's how they feel. But it's just kind of upsetting. I used to post here ALL THE TIME for a loooong time. I haven't posted since June of last year due to by business starting and all, but I get back, and people seem to be all over each other's throats, or not posting at all. :( Just kind of miss being able to go in here and saying ya know, hey, I went to (where ever I went) and caught a buncha... ya get the point. No one seems to post ANYTHING here anymore, and it's sad to see. I mostly post in saltwater anyway, but even there, there's like one post a day! I don't know, to me, no matter what, or where, I'll be glad to share my spots. (It doesn't BELONG to me, so why hog it?) I don't care how they dirty it, it's them that would have to grow up, and I'll accept that it's public, people have the right to go there. And I figure, hey, if I don't tell em, someone else will, so they'll eventually know where that spot is anyway. Besides, I like gawking at other people's catches when I'm not catching anything, makes me wanna come back tomorrow. ;)

Your right Rick,it's far from the off season, there's always fish to be had. The big salty is just getting good, and the flatheads are on the prowl :P

Sharkgirl, it's very cool to share spots and tips but when it's with hundreds of people it can have a bigger effect than a couple of your buddies. Specifics or not it's definetly nice to read about trips, experiences and great catches...or huge exagerations ;)

I always look forward to new posts and try to share myself,in fishing, any news is good news.

What I did was grab a Thomas guide of the area you are in and go exploring.I found several of my "spots" by looking around and fishing them, soem were excellent some I never got bit.A little adventure is needed for this but overall it can produce some good results and then you too can have your secret spot.A good so cal small lake has been Laguna Niguel, good topwater in the morning and evenings and really healthy fish, check it out. But I can't tell you my secret spot for the same reason,TOO MUCH TRASH!!

This is a bummer topic to read, and believe me, I understand what everyone is saying about wanting to see some reports and at the same time not wanting the lakes, rivers, and creeks to get trashed.

A lot of you guys and gals have been on here for a long time and watched things change over time. In 1996 you could post a map to your favorite spot and no one would show up. In 2004, things are different. There's a lot more people on the internet. For a while the internet was kind of the last frontier of getting actual information on fishing stuff. Now a lot of that is even drying up.

Just go to allcoast and read the guys talking about not posting the whiteseabass bites. Go to ncbf and notice than very few if any of the 'serious' guys ever post a report or give detailed info. Maybe you can go to sdfish and read some Barrett reports, or fishinghotpage and read some Irvine reports, but for the most part the places that are not already known and completely popular are not being reported on anywhere online any more.

So that's a pretty gloomy run down! All I can tell you in regards to the site is that it's not going away and I will continue to do what I can to make it an interesting place to come and visit. I'm always busier than I wish I was, and I fish too much to do the work on the site I'd like to always do :) but we'll just keep plugging away with things like the photo galleries, video, reviews and main page updates.

On the subject of trash, my next main page update is going to be about trash and garbage at the lakes. Garbage at the lakes is one of my number one most hated things!!!!!! Maybe somehow we can make a small difference. Look for an update this week or next.

-Rob

On the North American Fishing Club site they've got a thing started called a Trash Bash which is tallying up how much trash members have collected. I think it would be cool to do something like that here. So far they aren't giving prizes or anything like that but it has been talked about. I've collected 46 plastic shopping bags full so far this year and that's nothing compared to some of the folks there. It doesn't take much to loop a shopping bag on your belt loop and just pick-up whatever as you plug your way down the bank.
Tight lines,
Wade
PS: Does anybody know a company that would print shopping bags with a custom logo for cheap? I'd be willing to drop a $20 for say 200 with the right logo.

WAY COOL, WADE & ROB! I agree with encouraging others who view this site to pick up not only their trash but even trash they see at their spot. I know people should be picking up there OWN trash but how much of a pain is it really to pick up some other trash too? You are not helping any if you just look at the trash and say "what slobs come here" and leave the trash there.

Hey Guys,
I agree 100% with Rob. I always have my 5 gallon bucket with me and pack out my stuff and whatever else I come along. I was just sooo damn mad when I saw a spot I have fished along time get trashed so fast when noone ever used to go there, and I believe it was my fault for posting the location. I apologize again for pissin anyone off. I'll post reports and the such but locations are ouuta there for me, sorry, just my opinion, unless they e-mail me.

I agree. Here's my update: We were the fifth boat out on Castaic yesterday. Third cast we boated a 4# on a popper and a 2# on a buzz bait a few minutes later. That was it for the topwater action but the rest of the day was awesome. Hit a couple of the coves on the ski arm throwing poppers, Senkos and the bait of the day: 5" oxblood w/ red flake Roboworm, Texas-rigged with brass n' glass and drenched in Kickin' Bass attractant. I stuck to that bait all day and boated 10 including three over 4#. I also had two break off. My buddies threw the other baits plus crankbaits and jigs and only got 3 each. By the time they wised up and switched to the Roboworm the bite was off, although I caught my three biggest fish back to back to back between 2PM and 2:15PM. Most amazingly, I caught them off a sand beach with no cover and really churned-up muddy water. I was gonna skip that spot all together but my pal said to throw in there b/c the brass n' glass is good in dirty water and man -- was he right. Practically an instant hook-up.

I went online and ordered more of the Roboworms because they're pretty trashed after one or two fish. Good luck all.
