#2118, "New saltwater rod on the market"

Have any of you heard about the Fishing Barefoot rods that are out? I just got my Cabela's saltwater catalog and spied-em. Normally a new rod is no biggy, but these really caught my eye because of their specs- ultra lightweight, graphite polymer...which is no new news yet. Where it gets incredible is when they claim you can use lures from 1/2oz to 6oz and line weights from 10lb-60lb. They claim its a truly advanced technology never offered to the world of fishing. I've been doing some searching but can't find any info on the net about these rods. Any of you used or seen one in person. I'm tempted to buy one just to see what they're like. They are only going for $80. I was wanting a new casting saltwater rod anyway.

The rods are fantastic! The Fishing Barefoot website is under construction but if you contact Dal Barber at 919 880 5591 or Capt. Tim Barefoot at 910 617 7637, either can give you all details. Their rods are very light but extremely strong and sensitive. They also manufacture a strong, nice looking gaff that floats. Capt. Barefoot designs baits and his new bait, called a Getzem, has created quite a buzz in North Carolina. It has been used to catch king mackeral, dolphin and stripers. I bought the offshore rods this summer and love them.

Are you the guy what called me the other day? Sorry I didn't call back, it sounds like a long distance #. Those rods look very interesting-almost like a one rod fits all. Just how much do they weigh? Where are they manufactured? What company is behind them?

I gave your name to Dal Barber who is the head of sales at Barefoot Rods and Tackle. He can answer those questions much better than I can. I just love the baits, rods and gaffs. Good fishing--Bufpowl

Rockstar,
I tried to call you the other day. My name is Dal Barber and i am the director of sales for barefoot rods & tackle. These rods are hopefully going to revolutionize the rod industry. They are extremely versitle for all types of fishing. For us on the east coast we use this rod with calcutta 400 reels and 1oz weight to flounder and red drum fish and then we can switch reels and use the same rod to catch gag grouper,50lb. amberjack, mahi mahi, tarpon in our sounds and rivers! The material is called magigraff and it is much lighter than graphite and is 1.5 times strongrthan conventional graphite. We also have a wide range of jigging baits that are like nothing you have seen before. Since we are east coast based we haven't had a chance to get products out there, but at the ICAST show in Las Vegas last July we had a huge response from fisherman from the west coast from white bass anglers to halibut and salmon fisherman all the way up to Canada. They have done several articles on us up there, but the only place that has our baits is in Henderson, NV on lake Mead called laker plaza. They have sold a ton of our "Reel Hunters" for the amazing striped bass fishery they have. Our website should be up and running in the next few weeks for you to check out. If you have any questions please call me at 919-880-5591 or email me at fishingbarefoot@verizon.net. Thanks, Dal

Thanks for the personal attention. What really gets me interested in these rods is that just one is needed to do so many jobs...and the price looks very appealing too.

:7 I actualy own 3 'Fishing Barefoot' rods, I won them while I was fishing in a tournament in Islamarada and came in second. The rods looked pretty strong so I purchased 3 Shimano Calcutta 700's to go with them. No doubt, the best combo I've ever used, amazingly light...WITH the Calcutta reel, it probably weighs 1 lb. Not certain but none of my other set-ups are close to being as light as these. I'm sure you'll be very happy with the investment.
