I know that some guys are big on the Triple Fish line here. I wanted to know about their flouro on TW. I want to buy some good flouro without the premium price. I was also thinking about P-Line or some others but I wanted to get some info on the Triple Fish first. Is it any good?

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!

Approximately 80% of my swimbait fish this year were caught using the 25lb triple fish floro as leader (the rest were on straight triple fish camo). I had zero break offs this year on fish with that setup on my swimbait rods, and that was out of 55 fish over 5lbs caught on swimbaits. I tie a blood knot to connect the leader and a san diego knot to connect the lure. You can ask anyone who fishes with me, that's the setup I use most of the time.

Rob,

How long of a leader do you run with various baits and is it dependent on water clarity?

Do you reel your blood knot into the guides of the rod and cast out thru the guides as well? How often must you retie?

Do you glue any of your knots with cyano acrylic glue? Do you know if super glues damage perlon or floro lines? We use it alot on braids but don't know about nylons.

I appreciate your response and super web site.

I use about 3 feet of leader on all occasions. I reel the knot through the guides but I try to avoid casting it through the guides. I trim the tag ends very short, but I know exactly how close I can shave it without risking trouble. I've never tried gluing mono or florocarbon and haven't found a need to yet, it just doesn't seem to slip as long as you cinch it down tightly. I retie as needed, at a minimum I'll retie the blood knot every 4 or 5 hours. I only retie the lure if they're a fray, the florocarbon just doesn't weaken from casting like mono does.

Using leaders in general requires a lot of attention to detail to avoid failure. It's time consuming and a bit of a nuisance at first but now that I'm used to it, I use them all the time. The floro is just so abrasion resistant and requires so much less retying that it makes it worth it to me.
