If you're intent on bait (I can hear the snoring now), try Powerbait on a #14 treble hook. Tie it to a 4lb leader of about 3 to 4Ft in length. Tie the other end of the leader to a barrel swivel. Put a 1/4 oz SLIDING egg sinker on your main line and tie the main line to the other side of the barrel swivel. Cast out and wait up to 30 min. If you don't get bit cast somewhere else. If you still don't get bit walk 2 long casts down the bank and try again.
