If you have access to a boat, try throwing sinking trout immitations like the optimum. When the water is dirty the fish have a hard time keying in on the surface baits unless they are along side a dock, near the shore, or at an ambush point.
I won't mention how many more deep water fish I have caught versus surface baits here. Cast out and immediately put it into gear. A lot of bites come as the bait hits the bottom. I then wind slowly for a few cranks, stop then let it hit the bottom, then start over. A lot of fish eat the bait on the straight wind comming straight back to the boat. GOOD LUCK.
