Went to pudd after work to toss the osprey for a while
to kill some time. The water is a very dirty green right now.
I made a couple of casts on the beach for nothing. Then
I moved to the ramps, made a few casts and got a backlash
which snapped the line. Opps there goes that
osprey.I was throwing the 7" and got no followers and no hits.
Is anybody else trying big baits here? I have been trying them
with no results. This place is not worth even a single cast
lately. It should let loose if the weather stays warm.Well,
good luck to all who try here

The stone is a tough nut to crack. Yes people do throw big baits and do very well when the bite is on. For that matter when the bite is on most fishermen does good there. I think the best time is during the spawn. I see some pretty large bass there. Some guys go there everyday until they hit the the big one. I dont have the patience. I know thats not a good way to fish but I got spoiled at Perris when it was good. It was common to catch 20 /30 fish a day. The hard thing was trying to catch keepers. But we were catching fish.
I live close to Puddingstone and only fish it 4 or 5 time a year. Keep trying I know it would pay off

If you have access to a boat, try throwing sinking trout immitations like the optimum. When the water is dirty the fish have a hard time keying in on the surface baits unless they are along side a dock, near the shore, or at an ambush point.
I won't mention how many more deep water fish I have caught versus surface baits here. Cast out and immediately put it into gear. A lot of bites come as the bait hits the bottom. I then wind slowly for a few cranks, stop then let it hit the bottom, then start over. A lot of fish eat the bait on the straight wind comming straight back to the boat. GOOD LUCK.
