#2058, "Eating Cachuma trout and redear?"

This being my first fall in Santa Barbara I will now start being a regular at Cachuma. My main focus will be on catch and release of LMB and SMB, but if I happen to catch a trout or redear (both rare catches while lure fishing for bass, but it can happen)I would like to know about the eating quality of these two species at Cachuma.

I have heard that the redear are very good to eat, but I hear mixed reports about Cachuma trout. Some say that they are very good and others say that Cachuma trout taste like the swampy SB water. Also, is there a difference in eating quality between the Calaveras trout in Cachuma and the DFG trout there?

Please give me your opinions. Thanks.
