David,

During the Finnseeker halibut tournament once we exhausted our supply of pre-tied fishtraps (trap rigs) we started tying them using palomar knots and tying the treble (trap) to the tag end. Caught a few fish this way including a huge leopard shark (on the trap hook) and it held up pretty good. The flourocarbon was iffy and was causing some heartache but once I dumped that and started using mono I had no problems.
