These articles talk about portions of Piru Creek. I'll look for some that talk about the 3-day journey backpacking the creek south to Lake Piru.
here's the link to Cal Trout: http://www.caltrout.org/
A secondary benefit of what Cal Trout is doing with the re-establishment of trout streams, is the establishment of bass fisheries in streams and rivers. Here in SoCal, we only get to fish for LMB in lakes. There are a couple of streams that hold SMB fisheries. Santa Ynez is one; Piru is another. I'm sure that there is probably one or two others.
I've fished both SMB and LMB in the upper Deschutes in central Oregon. It's a kick-in-the-butt; and offers a new way to explore for bassies here in SoCal.
I'll be contacting Cal Trout to see what I can do to help out. We can't wait for someone else to make sure that we can continue to fish when and where we want. The saltwater guys are finding this out the hard way. Lets not be next in line.
