while checking on recall info on some toys my son has, I stumbled on a lot of children fishing gear recalled for various reasons (one of them lead in the paint on the rods).

Go and check it out at:

http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/CATEGORY/toy.html

can't be too careful with the little tykes.

thats a good link for TOYS which are commonly used while kids are unsupervised.

But if you have a kid thats chewing on fishing rods and you're worried about lead-based paint(?) on your kids rod:

what are the sinkers made of?
do they also have access to hooks and line?

there is a point at where parental-taught disciplne MUST be factored in. fishing equipment is not a toy; even fishing equipment sold in the "junior" size. :)
