Whether you spell it Ledbetter or Leadbetter, this beach is a very popular Santa Barbara beach for all sorts of beach activites. There are picnic tables, barbecues, and grass lawns just back from the beach. As of 6/07 It costs $2 to park in the lot which is located at the intersection of Shoreline Dr. and Loma Alta Dr.
When the surf is small, this can be a good place to launch kayaks or float tubes. Shore fishing is fair here, with perch and corbina possibilities. There can be a lot of loose kelp at this beach for whatever reason. The kelp beds out from leadbetter point (to the right as you face the ocean) are good for calico bass, and the surrounding areas are likely to hold halibut in the summer months.
