I picked up two fish pretty early on a white buzzbait. I missed at least three other good fish on the buzzbait, two which didn't hook up and one that got off at the weedline. During the early morning I was also pitching a 7" greenpumpkin/black flake Senko, a 7" watermelon/black&red flake Senko, and a brown/orange jig whenever I saw cover that looked good. I never did get any action on the large Senko's or the jig.
Once the topwater bite slowed I rowed up to a spot that had been very productive only to find that weeds made it nearly impossible to fish. I fished around the Tracy Blvd bridge for a while mostly throwing the 7" Senko's mentioned above, a spinner bait, and the jig. No bites.
I started working my way back towards the rock barrier around 11am and decided to size down the Senko to a 6" green pumpkin with black flake. Either that or the low tide seemed to turn things back on. I picked up my best fish, probably about 3.5#, plus two more to make a limit by pitching to the weedline. I got my last and smallest fish about 45 minutes before weigh in. I sure would have liked to cull that one; I damn near had to stomp on it to get it to go. I also threw a frog occasionally and got one fish to roll on it but nothing took it down and no hookups.

Those GUTS it spits out might cost you a few ounces, and I don't think you'd be allowed to weigh them separately!!!
Remember -- every ounce counts!!! :D
p.s. Congrats, Clint & Dave! Too bad you weren't able to pass the *Master*, but an impressive showing, nonetheless! Y'see, we can do it, too! (Oh, yeah. I guess I don't have much room to talk, although I *did* let that one victory 'slip through my fingers' -- literally!)
Way to go, guys!
