#41162, "May 2-3, 2009 - BnT Kickboat Open, Clear Lake report"

Well it was time for the annual BnT kickboat open at Clear Lake again. here is my story and I'm sticking to it!

I drove up Wednesday to hang out with Swampy and Steve, and anyone else who showed up early, and get in some R&R and pre-fishing. The weather was nice, the water temps were in the very low 60's, and about 3 or 4 feet below full pool, clear water in the lake and slightly dingy in the keys as usual. Wed and Thur I fished in the keys for a few hours each day and was able to get fish to go on brush hogs, beavers and Senkos but my favorite frog bite just wasn't there yet. Friday I fished the main lake mainly, across from M&M. I only got three bites, 2 were on a frog and one on a Beaver that went 5.5 pounds.

Day one, I made my way back to my favorite spot in the keys and started catching fish right away on a 5" Senko flipped to the bases of trees that were still partly in the water. I filled my limit and was culling by 7:30. After that I fished a frog around some and switched to a 7" Senko to try to upgrade a little but I never got on any bigger fish and weighed in 13.4lbs and somewhere around 15th place for the day.

Day two, I headed back to the key I fished on Saturday and had another small limit in a couple of hours. Sunday was all about the brush hog on mud banks, and drop shotting the inside of the docks. I did lose a big fish that ate the Senko in the middle of a tree and I wasn't able to wrestle it out. Sunday I finished with 11.85lbs and a 2 day total of 25.25. Not exactly what I was looking for but better than I usually do at the open so I ain't complaining :+

Congrats to Jon for the win and to everyone else who finished in the $$$$

Big thanks to Paul, Taylor and everyone who helped make things run so smoothly all weekend and especially to all the participants that help to make this tourney what it is.

Also, we can not forget our sponsors for this event.
The Creek Company, Coyote Bait and Tackle, Waltons pond, AC plugs, Limit Out tackle in Clearlake Oaks, Zoom baits, Cooch's fishing, Lamiglas, Rodstrainer, Eagle Claw, and whoever else I am forgetting.
Now go buy some stuff from these folks :P

Nice report Mitch! Hopefully Jon and Swampy can put theirs back up here too.

Not a fishing report but I did drop some pretty good $$$'s at Limit Out - $230+...for a new Dobyn's rod.
