I just got some treble hooks for my trout lures. I bought some Gamakatsu 4X 1/0 thru 4/0 black hooks and some Owner 2X 2/0 #st-47 stinger Hooks also black nickle. When I compare the Gamies to the Owner(both 2/0 size) the Owner is larger by quite a bit but not in hight, it is wider in fact it is actually still wider than the Gamie 3/0. The Owners have about the same size wire as the Gamie 4X. How's that for the old saying that everyone has their own standards. The Gamies were $6 for 3-4 hooks and the Owners were $4 for 6 hooks. Both are very sharp and built heavier than bass would need. I am impressed buy the Owner hooks. The design of the Gamies is a traditional straight long treble and the Owner seems more like the newer crankbait hooks you would find on more expensive crankbaits, in that the hook has more room in the throat and the points are all slightly curved in tward the center. I think that Owner are a great value. Both are in the Cabela's saltwater catalog. If you see a NUTJOB fishing in the rain at Casitas on Thurs, Thats me. See ya.
