#782, "I need a crying forum"

I went to Casitas today.(sigh)(big sigh)
this was my first trip with my new Calcutta 820 rod and 400 te reel.
I fished all morning with a 12" MS Slammer, no followers and no takers. Then switched to a Castaic trout at about noon. I was trying to be persistant. At 1:30 in cloudy water she came out of murk and nailed the trout from the side, I set the hook and she was on. She hit about 15 feet from the boat. By the time I realized she was on she was on the other side of the boat, about 2 or 3 cranks and she along side. I reached for the line, before I grabbed it she shook and was gone. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! The large mouth was easily over 10 and I'm guessing 12 or bigger. It all happened so fast, was I sreaming, this just sucks. I fished until 6pm and that was the only thing all day. We need a big bass support group, I can't stop the shaking.

I wanted to thank each and every one of you guys who are so helpful.
The new rod and reel made it so much easier to throw all day. You guys are great!!!!

I was fiddling with the new rod for the last 2 days wondering if it to soft or not stiff enough to throw the baits, the rod was great it threw the 12" slammer and castaic trout with out and problem.

Bummer man. Now what's really gonna bake your noodle is would you have lost that fish if you stuck with the slammer, or would it have never eaten the slammer in the first place.... I'll be at casitas tomorrow. There sure have been some big fish caught at that lake lately.

I'm not a stren fan either. I was fishing with 30# Trilene big game in green.
Brian, do you fish Casitas much? I'd like to talk to ya(robertolling@msn.com) I'm working all next week but after that I think I'm comming down with a cold the next day we get weather. I did get one follower on the back west side of the island but the fish was only about 5-6lbs. I was thinking the same thing about maybe not getting the fish with the slammer. The fish was in the shade and silt. Reguadless I'm ordering some of those Gami trebel hooks, I even saw that cabelas had them in the black hooks as well as bronze.
