for rods for swimbaits i have been eyein the Loomis HSR932. an playin with it when i should be workin. haha. this is a 7'9 12-25 with a 1/2-5oz rating. this in my opinion is the best one out there for swimbaits. gimme your opinion on that rod. for the reel i really like the Daiwa Millonaire CVX-300. an for the bigger floatin plugs i was thinkin the Calcutta 820 with the same reel. gimme some advice. thanks. ~Angler Andy

Hasn't Brent convinced you to get the BBR965? I threw it with a Castaic Trout for an hour or so at Clear Lake and it was a sweet rod.

I've said it before, but the CL820XFA is the bomb for throwing the big plugs, makes a great sick for throwing dines at the albies, or the Fish Traps.

Another one I just fell in love with is the CL825FA, it's a jig stick rated 15-30. Tossing swimbaits for the calicos at Catalina this weekend, I was amazed at how well this stick casted matched with the CT400- might be a little slow for the bigger baits like the Castaic trout or 12" AC plugs, but throws the plastic like no other! If you are throwing the 6-8" baits, this thing is the bomb! I like the 820 for the big baits! Tight lines, trout stocking time is coming!
