Which do you prefer? Do stocked rainbows tend to look more on the dark side or closer to the lighter/silvery side. What sells more, the dark colored rainbow Slammers or the light?

If you want to really match the hacthery rainbows, a light or sliver colored swimbait is a better imitation. You see, these DFG 'bows have been raised in holding pens and fed crud pellets till their stocked. They don't have too much color in most cases. But after a couple months in the water, they become darker in color. If it's been a couple weeks since the last stock, you can probably go darker. I think if the fish see a lot of similar colored baits, a darker one might work better. But, it really all comes down to personal preference...

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!

I read somewhere that when a fish is being chased it turns to a light pale color out of fear. I like the light colors......BassMan

I read somewere that Allen Cole thinks the trout are a dark color when they first hit the lake ,so alot of his newer swimbaits are being painted purple.I got one recently and though it hasnt worked iin the day time it will be an effective night bait. I prefer dark just not purple ..yet..

here what i meant;

This auction is for one 7" AC Plug "minnow" in a dark rainbow trout finish. Have you ever noticed how freshly stocked rainbows are very dark in color? This was the thinking behind this dark purple paint theme.
