#7636, "maybe I am just lame?...Or this is a lame question?."

O.K... check it out..I am somewhat new to the big swimbait style fishing, but have been fishing forever..I got a nice rig for throwing fat baits no problem..but it seems like when I spend hours fishing the big baits I feel I am only getting casting practice?..Now I know these baits are a you only get one hit in awhile type deal, but when you do its a hawg. But I dont think I am fishing them In the right spots or the right presentations..I fish them slow and methodicly but nothing i have probably invested 200 hours so far with no monsters to claim on swimbaits, yet I enter a tourney and rack up 17lbs of fish on a decent day not counting the ones I cull...also The swimbaits i have been useing are, hud rof 12,hud rof 5, castiac platnum(sp?) and the megabait charlie sr(10")...any help would be soooo apreciated....

Theres really no magic info thats gonna help you catch fish on swimbaits. You just have to keep at it, and thats pretty much it.

If a particular retrieve is working, try another. If one type of structure isnt working, try another. Try deep, try shallow, try mid-depths. The bite always changes, and you have to change with it. Good luck.

Dude,
What lakes are you fishing? I fished swimbaits off and on for a year before I got that one big bite, and guess what, after that it got a little easier. I can also tell you there are not alot of guys that are putting a ton of monsters in the boat right now. Bassindon is on fire!! But really most people are struggling right now, at least in Nocal. Keep it up dude and it will happen.
Jared

Just keep throwing, some of my buddies have had success there but its not easy by any means. You've picked a very difficult lake to learn the game, just stick to it and then when it works hang on to your secrets because that's going to be worth money!
