Okay, this can be kind of general, but catching trophy bass can be kind of comical sometimes, especially when it is chaotic. There are always funny stories of rods breaking, or falling in the water during the intense pursuit of trophy bass. Especially because most of the fisherman I know absolutely spaz when they hook big fish, causing confusion and chaos in the process. Big bass cause adrenalin rushes, they cause us to become clumsy and absolutely hyper, it's amazing there isn't more accidents. I have many, but I will share this one because it was most recent. Feel free to share your own stories.

I was so anxious to fish the morning we were launching at the boatramp August 24th that before my boat even hit the water I picked up a rod and chucked it right beside the boat ramp. The boat ramp sits near an old person home where many old people enjoy the day fishing from the bank or the dock. A stream was entering and I made a long cast down the middle of the stream. The boat was drifting backwards and my buddy pulled the Jeep up to park it. Halfway thru my retrieve as I put one hand down to hold on to the dock, I get pounded by a big bass. I set the hook in suprise and hook her. Now, the older folks around all had lines out and my fish immediattely started pulling drag into the nearby dock where they were fishing. Wrapping herself around one of the gentlemans line and around a couple dock pilings, I started yelling for my buddy Brock as loud as I could for some help, but he was parking the car still. The older folks thought I was yelling at them and got upset that I was fishing nearby and threatened to cut off my line. I told them I had hooked a big bass but they just thought I was hung on the dock. Finally my buddy sees my rod bent, he full out sprints down the parking lot and comes over about the time I'm pulling her back out of the dock. He unwraps the guys line from around my line and then I lay on my back and lip her. It was chaos. Emotionally drained from the stress of the whole ordeal I put her in the livewell for pictures. Some jokes were made about how I wasn't kind of enough to even let my buddy park the Jeep. The guys that were fishing looked like they wanted to pummel me. I went over and shook their hands in a gesture of peace.

Sometimes trophy bass fishing can get a little crazy and unpredictable, but I suspect thats why we keep coming back for more. :-)

Liked your story and your attitude:-) . I'm still learinin' about Trophy Bass so I don't have any stories to post. I just hope I have enough 'time' left(I'm one of the "old folks".) to land my first double-digit one as a 9 lber is my PB so far. Great Gallery!

When I caught my PB I was completely unprepared as I was preparing to be prepared...if that makes any sense.

It was early March and a cold front was heading in, I had just bought my first swimbait (8" sinking Castaic) and was knew I had a good chance at catching a big one if I played my cards right. I got my float tube ready and my gear together, but before I got in the water I wanted to make sure I could cast that big bait with out getting back-lashed. So I make a practice cast from the shore and the bait goes nowhere, so I loosen up the cast control and let another cast go. This time I was happy with the cast and I was just going to real the bait in and get in the water to do some serious fishing. Well, as soon as my bait passed this submerged tree in the water I get blasted by a fish, I set the hook and this big old bass comes completely out of the water. I am shocked and stoked; I have finally hooked a double digit. The problem is that I am standing on a bluff about ten feet above the water, my only option was to jump down the bluff and try and land the fish from what little foot hold was down there. The trout guys that were trolling from their boat must have thought I was crazy hooting and hollering and jumping off a cliff, so much so that they came over to see if I was alright. Well I made it down the cliff with out breaking a rod (or a bone) and I ended up landing the fish. It went 9.76 pounds not a double digit but still my PB by a long shot and I caught it on my second cast ever with a swimbait (still waiting for my second swimbait fish).

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous
