Hi everyone! I am from Texas and I am coming to California for two weeks, leaving this Thursday. I have never been to California before. I am used to fishing for redfish, trout and flounder. I am going to be fishing mostly in San Diego and maybe a little in Los Angeles. My family and I are going to Silver Strand Beach and I was going to try to fish there. I was wondering if someone could help me out by telling me some good places to fish (piers or in the surf) , what kind of rigs to use, and what bait (We use mostly shrimp and croakers). Also what kind of fish can you catch there. I'd appreciate any info you could give me. Thanks.

try renting a skiff at coronado boat rentals, you can use small swimbaits and a bass set up to catch a wide variety of fish all day, just call the tackle shop in point loma and they can set you up with the right gear.i think the shops name is lucs(lukes) but i could be wrong . and also either the surf perch or a charter boat would be your best best in san diego.either way have a good time and contact me if you mat have specific qquestions on fishing down there.
tight lines!
