#11607, "Goleta Beach - March 8-13 - Surf Report"

March 8: Daniel surf fished East Goleta with the 1 3/4" grubs targeting perch and caught several short halibut.

March 9: Daniel and Brian surf fished East Goleta with the 3 inch Big Hammer swimbaits (Sea Wolf, Wookie Wacker and Motor Oil Red) and caught several short halibut each and Daniel caught a large leopard shark.

March 11: Daniel, Brian and I surf fished East Goleta from 2:30 - 4:30 pm using the 3 inch Big Hammer swimbaits (Sea Wolf) and caught 11 halibut that included 4 legals. Brian caught three of them and Daniel caught one. Daniel also caught a nice sized perch and a big leopard shark.

March 12: Daniel fished East Goleta Beach for several short halibut and several large perch (to 16 inches) on the 3 inch Big Hammer.

March 13: Things slowed down today. I fished the swimbaits for 1 average sized perch. Daniel and his dad caught a few perch also. No signs of halibut today.

The fishing was a blast. The warm weather brought the fish up shallow but i think the cold weather the last few days put them back down, but that wont stop me from looking for them. Ive got pics of the legals me and brian cought that ill post later.
Fun in the surf time

I fished over there from about five to six for no bites. I did however see two halis jump clear out of the water. It's pretty cool to see that. Other than that nada. Hit the SB harbor yesterday and managed only one short while Dblaze had seven plus one nice sandie.

We are wading out pretty far. Waist or chest deep, it depends on the tide.
