Karl Erbacker & I decided to take advantage of the full moon & drag the ball of aluminum out to the LB break wall despite the slop. At 3:30 pm we made a bonzai run to the patch of calm water along the inside of the breakwall, taking a few over the bow in the process. 3rd cast I hook up solid on 12 lb. test, fishing a Big Hammer 5" Blue Green Sardine. Starting off with a 33", 12lb. seabass that happily joined us for my first Fathers Day BBQ:

After that we must have went another hour and a half without a bite. Once the tide started running the short bass started biting the bright 4" Hammers. As the sun was replaced by the moon the water turned to glass so we were able to work the outside where the nicer calicos to 4 lbs were biting the 5" browns & oranges:

It was around 1:30 by the time we were beat & had enough:

Sat. night we made a run up to Castaic Lower lake for another awesome night of fishing. We thought the topwater bite was amazing:

until we stumbled onto a school of fish that wouldn't let a 4" or 5" Big Hammer hit the bottom, color didn't seem to matter. They were inhaling the baits so bad we squished down the barbs & would loose every other fish when they jumped. They were all cookie cutter, very aggressive 3-4 pounders. One that may have went 5 ate the bait so deep all I could see was the leadhead (barely). I just had to cut the line & cross my fingers.

Good job on the Sea Bass. Sounds like you had a good night of fishing. You guys always seem to find the fish. I have a lot of luck with the #48, #16, and #45 but I've never tried any of the bait fish colors. Did you catch that Sea Bass on the inside of the wall? I always fish the San Pedro area of the wall maybe next time I'll try the Long Beach side.

That wasn't me, it was the bad photographer work :P Was that not the sickest topwater strike ever though }(

God do I hate taking pics at night. It just wrecks my eyes. I have kind of sensitive eyes from wearing sunglasses all the time, and at night the flash just knocks me out.
