#14320, "Shelter sandbass and such"

Put my guide hat on today. Took my Aunt and good friend out to introduce them to sandbass shuffle. Launched the Seether at sunrise and commenced angling. There was a nice sandbass tide rolling out till about Noon or so. Took us a little while to find our grove, then it got really good. Had two long lining rods with Spinbombs on them and a couple drop shot rods. I asked my Aunt Diane if she wanted the big fish drop shot rod or the little drop shot rod. She choose big. I rigged up the 17lb test spinning rod with a Gulp squid that I got as a tournament freeby, and sent it down into the briny shallows. Soon she was battling a nice halibut and after a little chaos, he was in the boat.

Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous….Pretty cool first fish!! She ended up holding that drop shot rod pretty much the rest of the day hoping for another one, but she only got some smaller stuff.

Doreen and I kept the long line system humming. Fish like this in the 14-16” range were relatively easy money.

Boys say when is gonna give us some room,…girls say, God I hope he comes back soon… Yes were we rocking the 540 am. Plenty of double hooks up.

Doreen was hot stick, apparently she is a natural born sandbasser. She caught the most fish and some really nice sandies.

I hooked two really big fish today myself, but one came unbuttoned and the other broke me off mid fight. Doreen also lost a giant fish to the structure. She did however, land some fatties.

Here she is with her toad of the day. All our fishing was done in the upper section of the harbor.

Get on it.
