#8539, "Ralph Clark Park/La Mirada Park Lakes Help"

Hello to everyone, have fished the above park lakes a few times with my 8 year old son have had some luck with trout after the plants using various mini-jigs but he is just dieing to catch one of the bass that he sees but only seem to bite when they get very annoyed at what ever you are throwing at them. Any advice on specific lures or techniques for him to catch one? He has used various texas rigged worms with no luck have not tried any bait yet maybe the old reliable night crawler would work. I plan on taking him Thurs. or Fri. afternoon to try are luck again.

I promise to keep all information a secret ;-)

Thanks,

Sam

Sam, there are no secrets to catching one of those bed fish, you just have to be one of the first ones to molest it. Those bass probably have been caught or at least tempted a hundred times by now. They've seen all the lures and live bait as well as the big creatures hovering above them (us) and know the consequences of biting an offering.

On a side note, as long as you are planning to release those bass, folks here will be willing to help you. If you are planning on keeping one, I don't know what to tell you. Bass are no longer stocked by DFG and haven't been for years anywhere in CA, what's there is there. So, I apologize if your plan was to release.
