I'm not from NorCal but i go up there alot. I was up there last weekend and decided to fish Quarry lake for some bass before i jumped on a plane back to LA. I think we fished the back lake but i was surprised to see really no cover near shore in either lake. We ended up fishing a point and caught two bass in the 3.5lb range in about two hours of fishing. I'm going up there again tomorrow for 4 days and wanted to go back there this time with a boat. I think you can only take a boat in the front lake. My question is are most of the fish on submerged structure or have they started moving up. I wanted to get in on some of the smallmouth but i've never really fished em. Can someone give me a few pointers or starting points for this time of year. Also do the big trout plugs work?

Most of the structure is off shore. You can only take a boat on the water if there is no gas motor on it. A kickboat or tube is about perfect. I have not fished it a a bit so i am not sure what the fish are doing but I do know there are fish to be caught.
