I would'nt use anything less than 15lb line,7 to 8ft heavy or med-heavy rod and use any size plug that resembles a trout. The big stripers have been caught on all sorts of baits this year though,so you can probably use just about anything from kastmasters to cut chovies. But usually the big boys like the trout lures.

I have heard that the water is down pretty far right now but there letting alot of water in the inlet and that theres a descent bite going on in the current, mostly smaller fish in the couple pound range.I usually throw small white swimbaits on 8 or 10 pound line for the schoolies, just to be safe.Could be a larger fish lurking around.

The water flow and lake level could change all the time, this is the way it was as of the 25th.Hope some of this helps.

..phishnuts pretty much covered it.at least 15lb the rule on trout plugs for the big dogs(14 will hold in unexpected situations!) small swimbaits for the schoolies.I like the little 3in worm kings in the black/white on a 1/8 oz darter head. I even go to 4 lb with these little baits.kind of light but......finess is the name of the game and sometimes can mean the difference between fish and no fish.As far as lake level being down I was up there a couple weeks ago and the water was very high. It was flooding the asfault paths in Cleghorn! way above full pool,so they must be rippin water in and out of it!Good luck and hit us back with a report.KEEP EM BENT!!!!!
