I've never tubed Isabella. Although I live in Bakersfield. I was just wondering if it would be worth the time to go up and give a go. Also, what they might be biting on and where.

I wish I lived close enough to fish that place often, there are definetly some hogs lurking around that place! They get trout washed down into there year round,so theres got to be some trout eaters who haven't seen the whole line of trout plugs thrown at them daily.

But that's a big lake that has alot of water to cover for a floattube,I've heard of most big fish coming off deep water structure on jigs. There's supposedly some old roads and a log flume(or something like) that that runs through the bottom of the lake and that's the hot spot?

Don't have any new info just heard some good fish stories seen nice pics from that place.Sad thing is everytime I've been by that lake it's just dropping and dropping.Hope that place doesn't dry up!

Good luck if you go...

I haven't been up to the lake for a long while. But I do know it's super low. They are supposedly expecting another El Nino and are trying to make room for the run-off. That flume you are talking about empties out into a power plant on the Lower Kern. It runs somewhere down along the bottom of the lake. I've also heard it holds some decent fish. I haven't heard a good bass report from there for a couple of years. Maybe the local bassers are just keeping their mouths shut. More power to 'em. Thanks for the reply.

Ever fish the lower area of the river?Supposed to be some nice smallies down past isabella somewhere.I'd like to give that a try next time i'm up that way.

I used to go every year up to the upper kern river around goldenledge campground.I've heard some real crazy stories that might be true about throwing trout baits for the squawfish in the larger deeper parts of the river. It's probably true since those fish definetly eat the trout and some get to large to move down some of the shallow rapids. That would be fun to do,especially at night!

Who knows...

I've done O.K. on the smallies. Mostly small ones. The largest maybe 12". That doesn't mean there isn't any bigger ones. I have caught a couple of large mouth close to two pounds. Try tube jigs.
