#6611, "Thank you!!!"
Sun Nov-03-02 08:03 PM

I'm sitting at home now, it's 11 o'clock PM, I'm dead tired, I've worked 25 hours in the last two days, I didn't get to watch a second of football today, but what a great weekend. The BWW show was great! We had a good time hosting it, but it was the guys who showed up, and the seminar speakers who made it the place to be. Running down the list I want to thank Bassnet, Castaic Dave, Nosehookrook, Fishtrax, Jeff, Carrot Top, XcellentFX, NoTrollMotor, Amish Ed, Jeff L, Brian, Muskyman, socalfrogger, Brian #2, Bassimus, Phil S, Matt Peters, SOCB Prez, and everyone else I might of missed, or didn't get a chance to talk to who came down. I was the totally frazzled guy behind the register who was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and who chain smoked during every break....LOL. Just wanted to the thank the Calfishing contingency for supporting us and our event. Hopefully I'll actually get to go fishing next week, got a bunch of cool new stuff to try out.

Hey CJ! Thank you for a great show, definately worth that long drive. You impressed me with the fact you remembered what kind of rod I bought 3 hours earlier even though you didn't really know who I was at the time and you guys were extremely busy. Also The fact you said you'd go back and credit that purchase to my years money back dealy, sorry not sure exactly what it's called, impressed me too. When I'm down in the area again I'll be sure to stop by.

I tried all my new toys out up here and couldn't be happier with any of it... well unless they actually caught me some fish... :-)
Erik

I was there Saturday, CJ and did notice that at times you looked a little stressed. You're right John Murray, Aaron Martens and Timmy Horton keep things interesting not to mention Greg Vella from Japan. The big loud response the guys made when the bluegills were released in the bass "death" tank was tremendous as well. Oh by the way, the old man with the grey receeding hair line was a bit boisterous but he's right a great place to learn how to pursue bass is in a club with helpful anglers not just competitors. The food smelled good but with the items I purchased I thought my dollar was better spent buying more items. Ths Whitmer-Rago bait was very impressive and the new colors at the Roboworm table as well. Owner also had good deals on drop shotting items too, just to mention a few. Can't wait till the next big bass blast next year!:-)

Thanks for a great show!! I was planning to go both days, but I couldn't resist playing with my new toys on Sunday.

The GLoomis works awesome!! I was using a Lamiglas Big Bait special, but it was way too wimpy. I was always waiting for it to snap when lobbing an Osprey. With the GLoomis, I'm loading up and winging the Rago which feels like it weighs the same or more than the Osprey.

Your first speaker on Saturday, John Murray, was great! I filled around four pages of notes. He gave a ton of info. Went out on Sunday and threw a spider jig at Skinner and got my first good hit on a jig somewhere where I would have never thought to try before the seminar.

I'll be in to pick up another Calcutta to repalce the one I switched from the Lamiglas, as soon as the wife settles down about Saturday. Oh well, I only went 150% or so over the spending limit she dictated:)

Hey NO Troll Motor,
Did you use the jig like John Murray talked about? If so how was the hit? On the fall or just as it stopped? He did give out a lot of good tips that I am going to try the next time I go out. Hopefully soon :(

I was casting to the inside edge of a point that creates one of the coves on the south shore from the middle of the cove. I was ripping it up about 3 feet and letting it fall before another rip like John said.

At the start of the second rip after the cast I felt a pull. I was surprised and not quick on the set. When I pulled again it was gone. At first I thought I had snaged some veggies, but the jig was totally clean and the bottom felt really clean on succesive casts through the same area.

My guess is that it got hit when it hit the bottom after the first rip.

What a show!! A big Thanks to BWW for putting it all together. I really enjoy hearing how the pros from the West Coast catch their greenbacks.
It's a real treat to learn some of their techniques and strategies.
Hope you guys continue hosting these kind of events.

I can hardly wait to use my new tackle..
Later

Hey CJ thank you, had a great 2 days there. I really enjoyed listening to Tim Horton, he was really easy to listen to and had some great stories. Be interesting to see what he thinks of the Delta and Clear Lake in the next week and a half. You guys had some great raffle prizes, I only wish I could have one something . Save some Oxblood Senko's for me when the next shipment comes in, I would ask Kevin, but well you know, just kidding Kevin.

Thanks for the show. I attended both days and the lecturers were awesome. I learned a lot. The people were great and the new lures looked killer. Greg's seminar on swimbaits in Japan was interesting. His prototype bluegill swimbait should be a real nice lure when it comes out.

Hey Chris,

I actually took the day off of work today (monday) and headed over to Castaic to try the new stuff. I hooked a good bass on the new Kanji swimbait but dumped it after a brief fight. If i could just keep the hooks from foul hooking the bait i'll be fine. Thanks for the great time and esp. thanks for hooking up the great BBQ!!!

Hey Jeff, try doing this to your Kanji Bait. It sounds like the bait is fouling alot with all 3 hooks. Either throw the bait with just the front hook and tail hook. Or use just the front two hooks and no hook in the tail. This should solve your problem. By the way, how big was the fish that came off? Was the bite decent at Castaic? Thanks Jeff!

Fishing was pretty good, for both bass and huge stripers. I forgot about the striper derby until i was at the 5/405 cruising @ 65 mph! The bass/stripers were chasing shad in good schools so we were just dart heading and spooning, we probably had 20 Largemouth up to 5 lbs. and 5 stripers up to maybe 15 (but we had some foaming by the boat at least 20ish), not bad for a 1/2 days fishing. The Kanji fish wasn't that big, but decent maybe 4 and some change. I threw it parallel to the bank that a bunch of fish were schooling on just a minute before and i guess this guy was hanging out waiting for another round. Oh, for all of the shad guys...The stuff is hanging out at the main ramp and it's easy pickin's, it's cool also to watch about 50 or more bass attack them right on the ramp, but dont waste your time fishing these fish they're way to smart to eat an artificial.

Even with only the two front hooks it fouls. Saturday night I was playing with it (the Kanji). It seemed to me that the hooks really interfere with each other under almost any scenario other than swallowing from behind and having the bait pulled straight out. I went with only the front hook. I didn't catch anything though. Sure looks great in the water.

thanks for a great show. I put some of my new toys to use on Sun. Still not much love from San V but the baits sure look good. I had a blast checking out the new baits and watching John and Aaron speak. Didn't get to stay for Tim Horton because I got the itch to throw a swimbait and headed for LMV. No fish in the boat but we had a few hits and a bunch of followers. Cant wait for the trout opener. Seems like the fish allready know its coming.

Thanks CJ, Bryan, Kevin and everyone else responsible for putting a good show together. Get somne rest and go catch a few fish

Thanks to Chris, Jeff, and everyone at Bass World West for a great show- I didn't spend as much time there as I would have liked, but like others I had a new toy in my hand and some free time to fish.

CJ,

You guys did put on a great show. God I enjoy seeing Aaron and John. It helps put things in perspective. They are HUMAN!

I sometimes am convinced Aaron is from another planet, or had gills. Sure enough, he puts his pants on one leg at a time. I'd like to see him kick some butt back East on the big baits.

And John, I missed most of his seminar, but man, that guy just kills me. The man. Always keeping it real.

Thank you guys for having us and putting it on.

Matt
