#64, "santa margarita"

me and rob got to the lake at around four and started out at wild man cove. rob hadn't thrown the plastics over there yet so we gave it a shot. not much happened there. rob missed a bite on the buzz bait but that was about it. the first fish was landed by myself at white oak. it was a pretty decent fish, maybe 14 inches. i was throwing a grey/clear sparkle belly bass trix swimbait. we worked our way over to this shallow area which was almost directly in the middle of the lake. i got a hit which i thought was weeds and it started shaking it's head, so i popped it and started reeling and i was saying, well it's a little one..... and as it got closer to the boat we saw it was a pretty decent 2 and a half pounder. it was just shaking it's head the whole time and not using it's weight. rob proceeded to miss like 8 fish in various areas and we went over to this rocky point where rob threw a little worm. then he started knocking the 10 inchers, i mean, he was on fire. he got like 4 in a row. as it got dark we headed to the narrows. we threw the plastic for a while with no luck and there was a lot of shad on the surface so i decided to throw a popper. first couple casts i got whacked by another 2 and half. unfortunately my drag was all loose so i pulled off the mid fight drag tightening maneuver and got it to the boat. that was about it and we called it a day after that fish.
