I caught this 8" bluegill, i think it is a bluegill?, and was wondering how big a fish this size would weigh? The color pattern looks more like a pumpkindseed, but a 8 inch pumpkinseed is a very large pumpkinseed. Is it a bluegills spawning color?

looks like a redear to me, their colors vary thoughout the year. read my prado reply

Weither it's a redear or a bluegill I think you could use the Bluegill column.

that is definitely a redear, looks like about a little less than a pound, they are quite common to catch on bass lures, since their mouth is so big! they really bite hard like a Bass too...
