My friend Brian was nice enough to take me out on his bass boat this morning. He picked me up at my house at 5:15 this morning and we were on the water by 6. We fished a couple coves that Brian had seen and thought looked really good earlier in the week, and they did look good, but they just lacked fish. We saw a couple cruise through, but that was it. We were throwing blades. Next stop was jack rabbit flats. We made the quick run over there in pretty thick fog which cleared by about 8 or 9. I spooked a fish throwing a blade and Brian had a fish miss a jerkbait. That's right, miss a jerkbait. After we worked that area, Brian introduced me to the "Leonard rig", which I am sworn to secrecy about, so unfortunately, you guys ain't gonna know about it. We fished a certain spot which I am also sworn to secrecy about (some report huh...) and I missed a fish and Brian got a 2.5 on the Leonard rig. We headed in for breakfast at around 9 and were back on the lake before 10. We flipped and pitched for the rest of the day (till 11 cause Brian had to work) but that only resulted in spooking a bunch of fish. It happens in clear water... And that was all the action we could muster for the day. Carneros has been a pretty consistent bite. I can usually pull one or two fish out of there a day at least lately, so maybe it'll heat up a little. The harbor's been bad to us lately. Went the other day, skunk fest. However, a sea lion did charge Brian in his float tube and that was hilarious. Tomorrow I'll be at Carneros. I should probably start posting so I'll have a record of Carneros, but it's like, what's the use when I catch like a 2 pounder and a dink or something. Whatever, Clear Lake Bass-N-Tubes on Friday, can't wait.
