#28, "June 23, 1999 Santa Margarita Lake"

Brian drove up from Santa Barbara today to get in on some real bass fishing (he's tired of Cachuma and how much it sucks and is overfished). Anyway we started in the marina cove for notta lotta throwing the AC lures. Next we moved over by white oak but some other guys were fishing what I wanted to fish. We hit the next cove over and after a casting the ac minnow for about the hundredth time that day, a fat pig came up about 10 feet from the boat and inhaled it. I bounced her and weighed here at 3lb 3oz. The fish had one heck of a belly on it but still couldn't resist the minnow. Not much further down the bank Brian got bit on his 7" original ac and landed an nice one which went 2lb 12oz. That was all for the ac bite and as it got later we moved again to fish the topwater off the shallow weed beds. Right away Brian and I both landed dinks on poppers. Moving slowly down the banks I got another about 12" and then proceeded to farm three in a row. As it got really late we jetted back to the marina cove for a shot at glory with the tournament frogs. I made one cast, was bit on two twitches and farmed it again! That was that and we headed in.
