Lucky for me I got up early because there was alot of activity at the lake this weekend. It looked like several clubs were having tourneys and there seemed to be a bunch of guys prefishing....I went out and had some typical fishing for November. While the numbers were there I noticed that the fish were on the small side. I totaled about 15 fish for the day with a few smallmouth mixed in just to keep me awake,Boy do they hit hard. I am at a quandry about the satus of the shad in the lake. They seem to be in about 8 feet but they are incredibly small for this time of year. I know that they reproduce on full moons and are capable of muitiple spawns in a year but Gosh are they small. I can't even see them in the western grebes bills as they feed them to their young. I did stop and pick up a few off of the surface and they are about the size of the first joint in my thumb about 1 inch plus or minus .100 which is strange to me as you can catch shad on crappie jigs up at Lopez...I just don't know about this part of the equation yet. I managed a few fish on plastics and on pig-n-jigs and they were my better fish. These fish are going to only come on stronger in the next weeks and I think a fella who sticks it out can do better on the dropshot and worm/pig&jig thing if he sticks it out . There was no wind to speak of and not much in the way of fog either so I only got a few topwater fish but there again they were the better fish of the day. I spent some time spooning and that seems to be out of the question until we get a really good freeze to send them deep and kill off those micro shad. I threw my optimum for a good long while with no taps but I did have some nice fish following my A.C. on the bluffs between Johnson's and Clark's Nice to be out on the water anyway and I met Jeff who had e-mailed me last week and his take went up about 150% on this weekend as oppossed to last. So he was a Happy Camper. Hope he gets over his cold. A few more trips to the lake ought to do it. Bye for now Kelly

Hey Kelly,

I appreciate the info on the lures and area that we were fishing. I have marked my map with the info for future trips.

Thanks again Jeff
