#17863, "April 10, 2010 - San Pablo Dam"

Went back to San Pablo since... there's really not many places to fish any more with all the closures and bs. Paid my $17, got my quagmire inspection and launched at 8am. The lake is full and looks great. Temps 58 to 61 deg. Water clarity 1 foot across the whole lake.

Trout fishing looked to be average. I saw some fish caught. They're not stocking DFG and the guy at the gate wasn't sure when it might or might not get approved. They have submitted the paperwork for the pre-stocking assessment.

Kept having weird deja vu from the past now that the lake is full. Remembering all the good spots and the good casts. Everything was the same except that now where you used to get largemouth, you get bycatch, er spotted bass.

I fished until 11:45am, had 8 bites and caught 4 spots. Even got one on a 7" senko. They were all 2lbers. Had a nice chat with a guy fishing from shore who caught the lake record spot recently at 5.9lbs.

If you like spotted bass fishing, here's your new favorite lake gang. As beautiful as the lake looks now I don't know if I'll go back for a good long while. Too depressing to see what one stupid fisherman did by transplanting spotted bass to this lake.

It's really too bad that spotted bass don't taste good, like salmon or yellowtail.

I am not a big fish eater, but I do enjoy spotted bass, and my wife loves them.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Do Spots taste like Largies?... Though, it's been so long, I forgot what they taste like... You guys should try Halibut fish tacos!... My little bro dips them in a scrumlicious beer batter before deep frying...
