To all you guys who own and use pontoons for fishing: Is it easy to put them together, how long does it take? Are there certain brands of toons that are easier to assemble that others?
I would like to keep hassle to a minimum, ie, setting up a pontoon. Any one have small trailers they use to transport fully outfitted, ready to launch. Who puts them on their cartop?
I just sold my last kayak, too much work loading it on top of car, offloading it, lifting it up to slide wheels underneath, tying on the wheels, on and on and on. Looking for a fishing platform that will not require a lot of work to get the thing ready to launch.

I HAVE A LIGHTWEIGHT 15 1/2 FT BOAT I WOULD LIKE TO SELL, LOOK UNDER TACKLE AND BOATS FOR THE RINKER BOAT. PONTOONS CAN BE HARD TO CONTROL IN THE WIND. GOOD LUCK, RICH CELL (805) 407-3331

I have done both, set up at the lake and cartop, and it is no big deal either way. I have a Creek Company ODC 816 and I have always kept the pontoons strapped to the frame, even when I trunked my boat and set it up at the lake. Putting the boat together and inflating it takes only 5-10 minutes depending on how many Red Bulls I had in the morning.
I currently car top my boat because I have a place to store the boat fully assembled and a roof rack on my Subaru. It takes about 5-10 minutes to strap it to the roof. I use four small cam-straps, one on each corner of the boat and it rides great at highways speeds (65-80 MPH)
If you have any specific questions post the here and I will do my best to answer them also, you may want to re-post this question in the float tube forum

I leave the frame together and deflate the pontoons and detach them from the frame. Then I fold them up and store them. Just lean the frame against the wall in the garage. I assemble and inflate the day before I go out, then car top it.
If you can't car top it, I would say it takes me about 10 minutes to inflate and strap the pontoons to the frame.
