#16521, "AB7 Hatcher Bill - Status?"

Can anyone give an update on what is going on with the AB7 hatchery bill? I searched around online to see if I could find any current information but everything is press releases and articles from when the bill passed.

Basically I'm wondering, will there be more trout planted this year than normal? If not this year, when will we start to see an increase in the numbers of stocked trout?

Ok, I'll be the dork who answers his own question :)

I found this article today that summarizes it pretty well.
http://www.junelakechamber.org/pages/summer.php?id=2

Looks like the additional trouts will come in three phases
Phase 1 starts 7/1/07
Phase 2 starts 7/1/08
Phase 3 starts 7/1/09

The number of trout planted per phase will be based on license sales, and the article is saying that there will be 2.25, 2.5, then 2.75lbs of trout plated per licence sold in each phase. At 2 million license sales annually that equates to 4.5, 5, and 5.5 million pounds of trout per year in each phase respectively. I'm not sure how many pounds are planted annually now but 4.5 million pounds of trout sounds like a lot to me :)
