Anyone having any luck throwing swimbaits at Kaweah ? I've been chucking them here and there at Kaweah, but I was wondering if anyone else is trying. I'm sure the 'secret squirrel society' won't ping in, but I was just wondering.

I went up last week and caught a bunch in about 30-50 feet drop shotting hologram shad. Had to bring em up slow so not to bug their eyes out. I hate trying to poke their bladders. Tried my Huddleston, but no takers. I guess I should just bring swimbaits and no plastics to force me to improve on da swimbaits.

Hey Leroy.
About using the Swimbaits and getting some confidence. You said this..."I guess I should just bring swimbaits and no plastics to force me to improve on da swimbaits." That is the best way. It works, Thats what I did.

GOOD LUCK!

I fish that lake about once a week or so from a float tube. I try sw's everytime out. Saturday I could only get a dink on a crawler. Last week I caught a 2lber on a 4" Storm in baby bass. I also fish 8" Castaics in floating and slow sinking but haven't hooked up yet with them. I'll keep trying. I know there are real monsters in there as I've done battle with a few but have never boated one.
I'd stay in longer but my feet are numb after about two hours.

Leroy,

Bassindon is giving you the right advice. I've never been to Kaweah but it's pretty clear that there are some big bass in there and they stock trout. If there's big bass at trout, there will always be a swimbait bite. The real 'skill' if you want to call it that is spending the time to learn where the bigger fish live in the lake and what time of year they bite the best. The fastest way to find out is to go and only bring the big baits and just fish. It might take 10 minutes or 10 trips, but eventually you'll get bit and you'll learn something from it, and just go from there. In a few years, you'll know generally what the good time of year is and what the good spots are. That's when the big catches will come. It doesn't happen right off the bat very often, it usually just takes a long time.
