Just found out that they planted 3500 pounds of trout in the lagoon at Castaic. Would have preferred they do that on the upper lake, but if anyone's looking for something to do tomorrow, the trout bite on the lagoon is the hot ticket. Too bad there are no stripers there...

Yeah, I was bummed to see that, the guy dumping them probably got lazy and just dumped it all at once. I think it's been almost a month now without a plant in the upper lake. I might do the trout thing tonight and break in my new slammers.

where do you like to fish for trout at the lagoon? I have had good luck with bass but have not fished for trout there. I might go in the morning.

TC, I usually fish the rocks right below the parking lot and the launch ramp area. I caught six today using berkley trout worms and thomas Bouyants. It's usually pretty good the day of and a few days after the plant then it starts to taper off. Good luck

P.S. I saw some monster bass feasting on the trout today.

I got there in the morning and fished from my tube I was using a kastmaster but they wernt taking so switched to a Thomas Boyant and that was the ticket, also super dupers, I wished I thought to use power worms I think those would of nailed them also. I heard about another plant this weekend so I might have to go back, great spot to fish! TC

Dilbertman, I rigged the worm on a size 10 owner single egg hook, live bait hooks also will work, and a very small split shot about 14 inches up. I actually missed quite a few fish becuase they were short striking it. If this happens then just pinch off about a quarter of the worm and you should hook up more.

Also, for the other question, I was using a gold bouyant.
Good Luck

Do you let the power worm just lie on the bottom of the lake? Or are you dragging the worm in slow or med. speed? I would think a size 8 straight shank single hook would be a little better. It would stick out more & is a little lengthier, but if you hook it at the middle, could that be better for the hook-up ratio? Size 10 sounds good too.

Well, first off I am not an expert. Although, I have experienced success there. The good spots are (sshhh, don't tell everyone)... lol! :+ O.K. enough kidding around. The southeast end where the rocks are OR if it is not already crowded, the spot between the launch ramp & boat dock. As for gear use ultra light rod & reel w/ 2 lb. test (4 lb. works too, but 2 is better). 1/16 oz. lures are working well. 1/8 oz. is the biggest you wanna go. Think small. Such as: spinners, kastmasters, plastic grubs w/ lead head, & dragging a 1/2 crawler or power worm. Power bait works for some folks (orange sherbert or chartreuse). Hope this helps! :7
FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!
