i'll be driving up to mammoth this thurs and come back mon i always use spinning gear or troll with lead core, but this time i'm gonna go up and fly fish with a friend this will be the first time i've ever fly fished can any of you guys give me some tips and what flies to use i've always wanted to try fly fishing and on this trip that's all i'll be doing.

A good bet would be Wooly Buggars in olive and black or twin lakes special. I don't know what water you will be fishing, but you might want to try mosquitoes in the evening. You may also want to try nymphing. I have never nymphed , but hear that it is a great technique. Good luck

If you are going to be flyfishing in the creeks, you have got to try elk hair caddis, along with mosquitos and adams. Black gnats are also good. Use these flies in sizes 14 and 16. The elk hairs in olive were a slam dunk at Mosquito flats on Rock Creek three weeks ago.
