#9627, "Chub or what in Lake Lopez?"

I have noticed several large (8" - 10") chubs or other type of rough fish in Lake Lopez (not goldfish). Does anyone know what these fish are and are they normally there? I caught one on a crankbait last year, but didn't keep it for identification.

Fred

I have never heard or seen of such a thing. I wonder if the bass eat 'em. What color did you say they were? ;-)

If there are "Chub Minnows" in Lopez, count your blessings. Chubs are one of the best baits anywhere for monster fish to eat.

What color was it? Was a silver color and kind of looked like a small tarpon??? Sounds funny but when I did some research to see what the hell I caught that is what I found. I caught something like that about 15 years ago but what it was, was a grass carp. It is different than the normal carp that we are used to seeing.

Color was a brassy brown. Not a carp but some kind of rough fish.

These are most likely "Golden Shiners" which I know for sure are residents of Santa Margarita.
