I had a feild day with them at ClearLake back in April best fish was just over ten pounds with a bad day being 27 pounds and my best right at 36. I fish them prespawn and in the tulies...No weight 5/0 ewg for the bigger senko and 2/0 ewg for the smaller ones. I was putting a worm rattle in the tails in the murkeier water but after a week we decided it didn't matter, however we did decide that smelly jelly couldn't hurt your presentation. Cast 'em out let 'em sink...pull them slowly to you...50/50 that you feel the bite. They mostly just start moving away...I've not had much luck in clearer water and the watermelon with black flake or red flake did the trick for me...While I have played with them since...Not happening in all those juicy salt and pepper and shad colors so you give them a try and let us know your take on it...<KELLY>

I've been having pretty good luck fishing the 9 series(5 inch) rigged Texposed on a 4/0 EWG Gami hook. Let them sink on a slack line and let it sit for quite a while on the bottom. The bite is usually very soft and you just need to load the rod for a few seconds before you set the hook. Colors don't seem to matter very much but my favorite is the 222 (watermelon with green and red flakes...some call it the xmas tree senko). I've been using the watermelon shiner with some success, it's new and only offered to Inside Line print subscribers. I've also experamented with Carolins rigging to get it deep fast but haven't had much luck that way.
Let us know how you do!
Ken

Yeah Ken, that's about how I fish 'em. One thing to remember with the senko is fish it slooow. I throw it out, let it sink to the bottom, give it one quick jerk and let it sink back down. Usually when they bite, your line will move to the left or right, but you won't feel it. Of course senkos can be fished in a variety of situations and depths. Have fun experimenting with 'em and let us know how you do.

I love that fat little creature- I've been fishing the 9S at Mission Viejo, #164 and #213, purple w\flake, I fish them Texposed with no weight, just dead stick them then shake em, fish them slow, the bass like them a lot. Also the smoke blue pearl, #240 in the smaller 9J works great at the local ponds.

Texposed is just like the Texas rigging of a worm except that you expose the hook point all the way thru the worm. On a senko on an EWG hook, the hook point and the end part of the hook is laying on top of the Senko. You can also push the point back under the skin of the hook a little bit to improve the weedless feature of the bait. With as much plastic as the Senko has this improves the hookset since you don't have to set the hook through all that plastic.
