i went to the lagoon today... arrived at around seven and saw the trout boiling everywhere...action slowed a bit after 8 and then they just weren't biting. caught one fish on a crickhopper but the next one i hooked had the line snap.... the fish went off shaking it's head with a crick hopper still hooked in... all the other fish were caught on yellow power bait w/ a 10 size salmon egg hook and a split shot about 2-3 feet up... the trick to get them to bite was to cast into a bunch of them... they cruise around the rocky area in the southeast....

by the way... i saw some people catching trout and using them as bait for bass right off the dock... they caught a 6-7 pounder and a 8.5 pounder... unfortunately they left the hook in the fish when they could have removed it easily

Live trout for bait is majorly illegal plus it's WEAK SAUCE for WEAK asses who can't catch fish for real. Just my 2000000000 cents.

shouldn't they remove the fish at least? i mean the trout was still stuffed in the poor bass's mouth... with hte hook to lodge it in there...

by the way... i was lots of dead trout all over...

Dude thats lame using trout for bait, I hope you said something to the clown who was doing that. the lagoon has been wide open for a couple of weeks now and its the best fishing in along time!! I will be there again tomorrow, its a blast watching trout boil for a couple of hours, I get a chance to try all sorts of lures and baits I dont use to much becouse of not straying to far from the ones I know catch fish. Walking away is always the right thing to do. Calling DFG and letting them handle stuff like this is the right thing to do also. No need to get in some kind of altercation with anyone. Just make the call and let the law handle it.

you don't want to confront jerks like this. call the CalTip number next time. It's toll free and i believe there should be a payphone right behind the docks by the lifeguard office. i'm sure they'll eventually get caught. last time i fished there over a week ago my buddy and i were checked by two DFG officers. the lagoon is probably where i've been checked the most for my license. they'll prob be out there more now that castaic has been getting these massive stocks.
