#11455, "Castaic Night Event"

I just found out on the Castaic website that the upper lake will be open to shore and boat fishing this Saturday night. However, it is 10 bucks per person and boat.

Hopefully they'll dump trout in the lake then I'll definitely go. Those stripers should be going off during the night.

Per my earlier post they're definitely stocking this week. I was planning to fish on Saturday but the night-fishing event sounds cool. I assume you'll throw Pencil Poppers, AC Plugs, etc.? I've never night-fished there.

Jimmo, this is actually the first time I've heard of the night events at the lake. I plan on throwing slammers and pencil poppers.

Also, I just checked the forecast and It is supposed to rain this weekend. That is bad becuase the night event is weather pending.
Good Luck

Hi,

I am very new to all this fishing terminology. What are AC plugs, pencil poppers and slammers?

Cordially,

Sonny

They are all trout imitators, there is a very good article on this site that should help answer any questions you have. Go to freshwater, then click on trout plugs. There are many experts on trout lures in this forum, so just post if you have any more questions. You may also want to do a search in the trophy fishing forum. See Ya

Btw, my wife and I are planning on going to the night event. How is fishing from the shore? Haven't been able to talk my wife into buying a boat...yet:-)

That's pretty cool they are having a night event there and letting people fish. I'd pay 30 bucks if they would let you fish some of the lakes around here at night :)

You guys gotta throw the Slammer at night. Nice and steady right on top. Watch out for those close to shore bites. Big fish will grab them in a foot of water sometimes.

Well, how'd everyone do, I blanked and only saw one striper caught. The fishing was surprising slow. They were busting pretty far out and wouldn't take any lures. I threw the slammer and pupfish. Hopefully my dad will want to take our boat out for the next night event in December. See Ya

As far as fishing from a boat I think I was the only one to get any stripers. I got a 13 pounder and an 8.
