Ill be heading out to Puddingstone on Friday. Anyone see any changes? I dont know if I should throw worms or a crank. Or stay home! Puddingstone has always been tuff for me.
I don't know if you saw my posts from last weekend, but I had better luck at Peck Rd. last weekend! I'm not suggesting that you should go to Peck Rd. Just that Puddingstone was rough last weekend. I didn't hear about much action but I did run into a guy who had been fishing Puddingstone a lot recently and he suggested topwaters in morning, rest and lunch from 11:00-3:00 (nothing biting) and then back to cranks in the afternoon. He also suggested smaller lures were working better than big one. Good Luck!
I wouldn't pass up Pudd. If you get a chance to sight fish for bedding bass try Sailboat Cove. Some are already sitting on the spots (7# to 8#). Also try picnic island shallows. The area is closed for foot traffic but good to go on the water (tube, kayak & boat).
Just got back from a short trip to the stone. The fish are on every bank on the beds. Good sight fishing as the water has finally started to clear up. Talked to some guys I know that said the afternoon has been hot the last 2 days. I did allright, but didn't get any large fish. Threw my arm off with the big baits for a couple of 5's.
I'm thinking of heading back to Puddingstone tomorrow (saturday), but have two questions: 1. How does rain affect the bass that have moved onto beds? and 2. Where do you guys recomend to fish from shore up there. Last time out I tried sailboat cove, east shore, and north shore for nothing. Any advice?
Thanks for all your imput regarding Pudding stone. I just got back and had a feild day. Caught two 6lbs one 10 lbs a bunch of fours and smaller. I really didnt keep track of my total but I would guess I caught 30lbs of fish. I only fished for five hours. Its that time again! Call in sick, tell the wife your out on a busniess trip, what ever it takes. The bite is on!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm sure all you Pudd loyal fans already know this. The pudd turns in to the mud when ever we get a moderate rain storm. It sometimes can take a while to clear but on a positive note I've also seen seen it bite like hell in murky conditions in the past. Obviously there's a good chance the weather could hurt the sight bite for awhile though. We'll just have to wait and see.
