#5283, "Going through it again"

Fished the Upper Cumberland Lakes east of Nashville for a few weeks last spring. Had to fly home late April for a scheduled PET scan to make sure the lymphoma was ok. My plans were to fish Clear Lake then fly back to Tennessee. Saw the Dr. for the results May 5th, thing didn’t look good, had a tumor in a lymph node removed five days later. Forget fishing for a while.

I couldn’t believe the lymphoma was back! After 19 days of chemo in 09 and the Dr. telling me it was in remission I figured I was good for another 30 years. From early June I have been at the City of Hope almost every day. Spent four days in the hospital mid July receiving chemo (Puke city) and yes I’m bald again. It’s a long story but I was trying to qualify for a bone marrow transplant and an experimental radioactive drug called Zevalin. I did qualify for the Zevalin and had that Tuesday.. After all the testing I have also qualified for the transplant. I will be entering the City of Hope hospital Labor Day for a four to six week stay.

Brothers that attend church get me on your church prayer lists. I will have a laptop at the hospital but I do not know if I will feel good enough to give a progress report.

Shoot Henry I sure wish you had better news for us. Hopefully the new medication and a transplant will take care of it for good. My family and I will keep you in our prayers. Hang in there bud!

Hi All,

Last week, I visited Henry at City of Hope for a little while. I met him last year at Puddingstone and while we chatted, learned that he has the same condition as my father in law. By coincidence, Henry is one floor above my father in law, almost directly above, getting almost the identical treatments. My wife and I chatted with Henry for a little while, and it was great talking with him. He is enduring the treatments very well and was in good spirits. Everyone, please send him your best wishes and keep him in your prayers. It is incredible what cancer patients have to go through... long, long days and stays at the hospital, harsh treatments, and time away from family. We wish Henry the best and I plan to visit him again. There are big bass waiting for you at Clear Lake Henry, I hope you'll be out there soon!
