#4671, "Big Surf Today"

Got a call this morning at 5:00. My parents house at the beach had water coming over the seawall. Knew yesterday that it could be bad. Point Conception bouy hit 24 feet around 7:00PM and there was a high tide this morning at about 6:00AM. Fortunately the water stayed in the front yard and never got close to the house. Wasn't as bad as a few years ago when Point C hit 27 feet and the high tide was a foot higher. Water actually hit the house that time but didn't get in side. Took a few photos driving back towards Santa Barbara. Shot from a moving truck.

Another Big Wednesday, 27 foot day was also a Wednesday.

Big waves are cool

My mom's friend took this pic yesterday at the entrance to the SB harbor

I remember big Wednesday. Was that like 1995 or so? We went to campus point and watched people's surf boards get broken in half. So knarly :) These waves look just about as big.

What's funny is when you think about all the times you float tubed in these exact places :o

95 sounds about right. After trying to save my parents house that morning (Water hit twice) I went and surfed the harbor. It was freakin huge, even bigger then the other day. Surfed next to Curran and you can even see me in a surf flick called Pacific Rim. Curran was riding one and you can see me paddeling out looking at him get shacked. When I got out I shot some video which came out cool but the tide had come in a bit and it wasn't quite as good. Love the backwash at that place.
